A Glimpse Through the Lens: Rainy Flowers
Photography as an art and finding glimmers in the rain
It was drizzling that day, gentle and light.
The sun was hidden behind gray clouds, the sky a canvas of dreariness.
I looked out a window and saw the backyard fence drenched in rain. The combination of moss and wet wood created a breathtaking background, perfect for a beautiful bouquet to shine against.
Being the photographer that I am, with the bouquet in hand, I threw on a rain jacket and pulled a torn plastic baggie over my Canon's lens. I headed out the back door, squelching on the soggy grass in my white Converse, never heeding the gentle rain that kept pattering, pattering on.
Positioning the vase of flowers just so, I aimed and click! snapped the shot.
Capturing the images below was an unique experience, the act of creating art whilst being drenched imprinted in my memory as a glimmer (in mental health, a "glimmer" is a small, positive moment that can make you feel safe, connected, and calm).
Have you encountered any glimmers today?
This week?
This month?
I hope you have, and that they made you feel safe, connected, and calm.
Loved this post? Recently encountered a glimmer? I would love to hear about it in the comments below!
