What a lovely idea Nicole! 🥰

Ahhh, my favourite author... that is so hard as I have ever so many, but I will have to say Jane Austen. I love the way she writes, how she portrays her characters and brings their stories to life. I so enjoy the time period her books are set in too, her witty heroines and of course her dashing young gentlemen who own ten thousand a year! 🤣

Physical books all the way for me, and I would have to pick a hardback because I always seem to break the spines of my paperbacks. 😯 I do enjoy listening to audiobooks from time to time too!

Oooo... this is hard! "Pride and Prejudice" (1995) is so lovely and the 1985 "Anne of Green Gables" movie series. I also recently watched "Far from the Madding Crowd" (2015) and I thought it was really well done. How about you? 😊🍿

Oh my gosh yes! Mr. Darcy…Colonel Brandon…Mr. Knightley. 😆

I love the TV show P&P and the movie too. 🤩 I haven’t watched “Far from the Madding Crowd” but I’ll be sure to look it up! Pretty sure my older sisters have watched it though…

Thank you for reading and commenting!

Hehe! 🤣 I actually got my photo taken yesterday with Mr Darcy… not the real one mind!! I visited Chatsworth, the house which was used as Pemberly in the 2005 movie and I got a photo taken with the marble stature of him. 🤣😆🤭

Ooo… I really did enjoy Far from the Madding Crowd! Have you watched any of the Little Women movies or TV shows? They are some of my favourites. 🥰

WHAT? That sounds like so much fun! Visiting Chatsworth is definitely on my world bucket list. My sisters got to tour "Pemberly" on their stomp of Europe a couple of years ago.

I've watched all of the Little Women movies! I don't think I've watched the TV show, though. I didn't know until now that there was one. 😀

Haha, I know!! 😂 It was so good and I would definitely recommend going to visit, though I wish I had a few more hours there as I didn't even get time to walk around the grounds and the river. 😯 I will share some pics in my next round up! :)

Oh lovely! The 1994 Little Women is one of my personal favourites, though I would like to explore the 1930s and 1940s movies. I really love the 1978 mini series too, you can watch it on YouTube, it has two parts! 🍿

Hard to pick one favorite author, but C. S. Lewis is definitely up there, also J. R. R. Tolkien, Jessica Marinos, Eric Metaxas, and then two individual books I'm really loving right now (both World War II historical fiction) are Journey Through the Night by Anne DeVries and The Auschwitz Escape by Joel Rosenberg. I love all of these authors because they write beautifully and communicate truth and hope so well!

I definitely prefer physical books (hardcover or paperback, either is fine!), though I do enjoy an audiobook now and then.

My favorite movie (which I guess you could call a book-to-movie adaptation because it's based on a true story) is Bonhoeffer: Pastor. Spy. Assassin.

Ohh you picked amazing authors!! Some I’ve heard of and read their work and some I haven’t. I’m going to look up DeVries’ book because the title sounds interesting. I’ve read and loved The Auschwitz Escape!

I’ve heard that’s a good movie!

That’s for reading and sharing your thoughts. ☺️

Yes, you definitely should! Journey Through the Night by Anne DeVries is probably my all-time favorite historical fiction book!

Your favorite author? (and why?)

ATM, Jessica Glasner! Her stories inspired me through a lot of hard times, so I am totally and unapolagetically biased :D

Physical books or ebooks? or! audiobooks?

Physical books! Though I've enhoyed all three :D

-if physical books, do you prefer hardbacks or paperbacks?

ooof, I think it depends on the book, you know? Like, hardcover for Fawkes by Nadine Brandes but paperback for LM Montgomery works. :)

Best book to movie (or tv show) adaptation?

In my experiance and opinion: Jackson's Lord of the Rings, Sullivan's Anne of Green Gables, Gerwig's Little Woman, and BBC's Pride and Prejudice series!

Thanks for this, Nicole, this was a fun break :D

And those are great book adaptations!!

-D.E. Stevenson. Why? Her books are just so cute & sweet. Plus, they are all set in England (I love English ANYTHING🤭), either before, during, or after WWII, which is one of my favorite periods in History. 😊

-Physical books all the way! I like hardcovers better, but softcovers are more affordable, so I definitely own more softcovers.

-Hmmm, I think the 1980s Anne of Green Gables (and the sequel!), the 1995 Pride and Prejudice (ahhh I just love it so much🥹), and the first Narnia movie (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe).

Your movie/tv show choices overlap a lot with others! I must agree with you on the 1995 P&P. 🤩

Oh yes!!! My favorite one by her is "The English Air," which is a stand-alone novel. It's got romance, spies, secret service, and so much more! It's so cute. 😊

Yessss isn't the 1995 P&P AMAZING?!? I literally re-watch it every year. 🤭

You're welcome! I'm so glad you did this post! It was so much fun to participate. 😁

I love both Gary D Schmidt and Jennifer A Nielsen! Gary D Schmidt's books are so powerful and amazing, and he's been a huge inspiration in my own writing life. (Seriously, check out any of his books!) And Jennifer A Nielsen is a wonderful writer, both her historical fiction and fantasy.

I prefer physical books over audiobooks and eBooks, but audiobooks can be handy if you want to multitask... As for hardcover/softcover, it depends (hardcover from the library, but softcover usually if I own it).

Ooh, The Outsiders is my favourite movie, and the adaptation is done so well. It's very accurate to the book and is so powerful. Also, the 1980s Anne of Green Gables movie is AMAZING! Oh, and also the 1995 Pride and Prejudice TV series... so good!!

I echo your opinion!

Great movie/tv show picks! I've heard good things about The Outsiders. Ooooh, the 1995 P&P TV series is gold. 😍😍

I cannot pick just one favorite author—that is mission impossible! However, a few of my favorite authors are Sara Brunsvold, Nancy Rue, and Lisa Samson. What I love most about these authors is the way they wrestle with what living out faith looks like in the pages of their stories. Specific things I love about each one are how Sara Brunsvold weaves life lessons into her stories in the most gracious and gentle way; Nancy Rue's completely relatable, lifelike, quirky characters; and Lisa Samson's amazing character voices (they have so much personality!).

Physical for sure, and usually softcovers, but hardcovers are fine too—they just seem more luxurious.

The Anne of Green Gables movie from the 1980s, I believe.

I have never heard of any of those three authors! I will definitely be checking them out because your description about them sounds amazing.

They do seem much more luxurious. 😄

Ooh, that movie's pretty good!

Hm, this one is a little hard. I think I'd have to say maybe Nadine Brandes or Katherine Briggs - it's not necessarily that their stories are incredible (which, they are!) but that they both love the Lord and are wonderful people, not just writers.

I prefer physical all the way! I love hardcovers for their look, but paperbacks for reading comfortability (though, little hardcovers are a favorite).

1994 Little Women, 2005 Pride and Prejudice, and of course, the LOTR movies.

I have not tried either of those authors' works but I'm looking forward to them! You might be interested in this if you like Katherine Briggs. :)

Ooh, Bella Raine also likes the 1994 Little Women. I am such a fan of the 2005 Pride and Prejudice!!

Jennifer A. Nielsen! Her historical fictions are amazing! and don't even get me started on her Ascendance Series!

Physical hardback books most of the time because I tend to easily bend the paperback 😭

I really liked the Mysterious Benedict Society tv series...until they threw in a curveball that was NOT in the book and weren't able to actually keep the show going... yeah that broke my heart. Princess Bride! Is also just CHEFS KISS!

I agree! 🙌🏻 Oh my, yes, I LOVE the Ascendance Series! Incredible books. 🤩 Have you read them all?

Haha, same!

I totally agree with you on the Mysterious Benedict Society tv series. It was so good in the beginning and then just...died. Ooh, the Princess Bride is such a fun movie!

- Argh, so hard!! I think it would have to be Chuck Black or Jennifer Nielsen. Both can craft such an amazing story that blows me away no matter what genre. I resonate more with Black's books because of the Christian elements but Nielsen made me fall in love with medieval fantasy.

- Physical books and audiobooks! I consume a lot of audiobooks because I do a lot of crafts and computer work so listening to books helps me multitask. I usually only read e-books when it's an ARC or beta-read. (And I think I prefer paperbacks when reading but hardbacks on the shelf? I don't know haha!)

- And I'd probably have to say Little Women (the 1994 version) or The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (the 2005 version). I grew up watching both of those before I read the actual book version so they have really special places in my heart and I kind of think the movies are better. 👀 IN SOME WAYS. Don't come after me. 🤣

- I agree - Jennifer Nielsen is amazing!!

- Cool! Multitasking is a great pro of audiobooks. Have you heard of "the holy trinity of books"? It kind of goes like this: hardcovers are for decoration, paperbacks are for reading, and ebooks are for traveling. 😆

- Don't worry, I'm not going to hunt you down because you're mistaken in your views (just kidding 😂). I actually don't remember much about those movies (I'm pretty sure I have watched them).

Thanks for sharing your picks!
